Louise Waugh
Discipline: painting, printmaking,drawing
Reflective and uplifting paintings inspired by a love of nature, the Cornish coast, and walkers with their dogs. An established artist and travel painting tutor, Louise works from sketchbooks and life. Paintings, prints and cards.
Louise a long-established exhibiting Somerset figurative artist works in a small space on a farm and preferably out of doors, whether in Cornwall, whatever the weather, Somerset or in Europe and Morocco.
‘To paint outside is to capture the very essence of the subject and if I am quick to continue working in my studio, I can hold that moment in my painting and transcribe it as I wish.’
The mediums used in the paintings are acrylic, oil, watercolour, and gouache. If I am walking and sketching, I carry my watercolour sketchbook, gouache and watercolour paints and Derwent Inktense watercolour pencils. With these materials I record the natural world. To sketch is a great pleasure, to centre oneself and be totally absorbed in the subject.
I have enjoyed Art residencies in Wales and Cornwall and exhibit in galleries.
