Kenneth and Marian Lauder - Abstract Painting

Kenneth and Marian Lauder

Discipline: Painting, Drawing, Mixed media

A student of the Royal College of Art, Kenneth Lauder painted until his death aged 88 in 2004. He worked in many different mediums. The works on show are in watercolour and watercolour and Indian ink. The earliest watercolours, land and seascapes, were started in the 1960’s, and were principally shown in Agnew’s of Albermarle St. London, the Ruskin Gallery, Stratford on Avon, and the King St. gallery, Knutsford, and many others in solo and mixed exhibitions.

In 1986 he travelled to Australia and the subsequent watercolours became very different  in approach.  He determined to interpret the small things around him during his journeys avoiding the more conventional views of the Australian landscape.  They are small abstract works derived from known origins and their titles reflect this. These paintings were first exhibited in the Scottish Gallery in Cork St. London (1991) and later in Galerie Christiane Cloots in Brussels (1995) as well as other galleries in England. A full list of solo and mixed exhibitions will be available as well as copies of the book of
‘The Early Paintings’ (1950’s-1960’s) written by Dr. Denys Wilcox of the Court Gallery.

Kenneth Lauder’s work can be found on www.kennethlauder.co.uk

Marian Lauder, frustrated by the conventional use of oil pastel found a method of layering the colours to produce non representational works of complexity, which will be on show as well
