Beth and Dyana French
Discipline: Ceramics/Sculpture/Painting
Mother and child duo, Beth and Dyana French are opening their garden studios for the first time. Mother, beth, makes sumptuous functional pottery inspired by a deep connection with the local area and by her love of the sea. She blends soft structural curvaceous forms with her own made glazes mimicking the many bodies of water she has enjoyed, from wimbleball lake to the Pacific Ocean.
Her sculptures are sensitive psychological studies in mind and body connection- how we relate to our selves and our notions of strength and beauty. She uses organic combustibles to create unique and subtle surface decorations that give a timeless quality to her work.
Dyana is a young autistic artist that has an innate way with colour and contrast. They work intuitively with movement and spontaneous gestures to leave a complex image purposefully open to interpretation. They have won public commissions and exhibited in Bath alongside established artists.
