10 Parishes Festival Launch Feast by Wonky Horn
Wonky Horn Launch Feast – September 5th, 2025 7pm
Celebrate the launch of the 10 Parishes Festival with a Wonky Horn feast. Using only our organic meat complimented by produce from within the 10 parishes cooked over fire by Dan and the Wonky Horn team.
After meeting in London and working in the motor trade (Dan) and the world of TV advertising (Emma), the call of the West Country was strong. We knew we wanted to find a farm that suited the dream we were building: beautiful location, the possibility for growth at a pace that was right for us, an understanding of organics and a respect for the area and its animals.
We found and fell in love with Westcott Farm and began planning our relocation to this gorgeous green place on the fringes of Exmoor.
We arrived at Westcott in June 2015, and our first Longhorn cattle arrived in that November. The initial herd consisted of two cows with calves and 4 heifers. Over the next few years our herd grew steadily (as did our own brood with the births of 2 children to join Dan’s daughter). We have over 40 cows that calf each year with the majority of these being home bred. The herd is one of the largest of organic Longhorns in the county, and we’re really proud of this.
We then ventured into the world of sheep starting with a flock of Exmoor horn sheep and an Exmoor Mule. This little known breed is perfectly suited to the rolling hills of Exmoor and the unchanged eco systems unique to the Exmoor area.
Pigs and poultry came next to complement our offering to our customers and to be used in the regenerative management principles that we are following on the farm.
Giving our animals space and freedom will always be a high priority for us, and in 2020 we were able to secure a neighbouring farm adding an additional 100 acres. We then immediately began the important work of getting this new land certified Organic.
The following year we converted an old barn known as The Bothy into our butchery, which in turn we then got certified with Organic Farmers and Growers who are the certification body we use for the farm as well. Having the butchery on site brought Wonky Horn fully to fruition. We’re proud of every single cut of meat that leaves the farm, knowing it’s been well nurtured, grass-fed and processed by our own master butcher.
We do not rush finishing our animals. On a 100% grass-based system they are allowed to develop and grow as nature intended. This means that our animals are much older than you would buy in a supermarket or butchers. We find this gives them time to mature and develop deeper flavour, also enabling the marbling of intramuscular fat.
Our 18th Century barn is the perfect venue to host the 10 parishes’ festival launch night. Using home grown, and local produce from the 10 parishes cooked over fire by Dan and the Wonky Horn team.
